Katie & Scott’s Forest Micro Wedding in Colorado

Katie and Scott traveled from Wisconsin to celebrate their wedding in the Colorado mountains, choosing Juniper for a forest micro wedding in Colorado that felt private, immersive, and deeply connected to place. With just 21 guests, their day was designed around presence rather than production, letting the setting and the people carry the experience. In early June, the property was lush and green, the forest thick with summer growth, and the meadow felt calm and expansive.

A Grounded Start at the Lodge

The day began at 3:00 PM with check-in at the lodge, giving everyone time to arrive, settle in, and transition out of travel mode. Katie got dressed in the Boxelder King Junior Suite alongside both moms, her sisters, and a close family friend. Champagne was opened, finishing touches came together, and the pace of the afternoon stayed unhurried.

A Forest Meadow Ceremony

The ceremony began at 4:15 PM in Juniper’s meadow, surrounded by forest and softened by early summer light. As Katie walked down the aisle with her dad to Can’t Help Falling in Love, the mood felt intimate and grounded.

About halfway through the ceremony, rain moved in. Guests stayed put, umbrellas came out, and the moment continued uninterrupted. Scott’s uncle Bruce officiated, bringing warmth and familiarity to the vows. And just as the ceremony concluded, the rain cleared.

Photographer Antionette Smith Photography captured the entire sequence beautifully, from the soft, overcast light at the start to the sun reappearing over the lodge at the end.

Family Photos & Couple Portraits

Following the ceremony, guests stayed on-site for family photos, then Katie and Scott stepped away for quiet couple portraits. By 5:45 PM, guests departed for an off-site reception at Lariat Lodge Brewing Co. in Evergreen, an easy transition that kept the ceremony intimate while allowing for a relaxed evening celebration.
